Handcrafted leather belts
Nordic EDC leather belts emphasize classic, utilitarian styling. Our leather belts are built to last and to develop a beautiful patina reflecting your lifestyle. Our premium quality belt is an everyday add on piece that can enhance any outfit complementing a nice raw selvedge denim jeans to a well fitting chinos pant. Coordinate your belt color with your footwear or make a bold statement with a contrasting color!
Once you feel the smooth yet resilient leather of Nordic EDC, you’ll instantly recognize what true quality feels like.
Our handcrafted leather belts are meticulously crafted using full-grain Swedish vegetable tanned leather and solid brass hardware resulting in a rugged belt that can endure decades of wear and tear.
As you wear your Nordic EDC belts more frequently, they’ll gradually soften and develop a beautiful patina. Unlike belts that quickly wear out, Nordic EDC leather belts only improve over time.
Each belt undergoes careful hand-burnishing along the edges to enhance its style and ensure easy passage through your belt loops. We top off every belt with a solid brass buckle, providing a reassuring weight and keeping your pants securely in place.
Leather Belts FAQs
We make every belt in our small workshop in Älmhult, Sweden.
These belts will develop a unique character and patina that reflects your journey through life. With each scratch, scuff, and mark, your belt will tell a story and become a cherished companion that stands the test of time.
We recommend cleaning your leather belt with a leather-safe cleanser. Followed by applying a leather balm.
It’s a good idea to do this every six months or sooner if you feel the leather is getting a dry and developing micro cracks.
For the most part, we encourage our customers to leave their belts as-is. The best part about having full-grain leather is the beautiful patina that develops.
We like to use any good high quality silicone free leather conditioner for our leather belts.
1. Make sure that the belt is dry and apply the conditioner generously.
2. Let it sit for an hour or two.
3. Then wipe off excess conditioner.
Please note that if you have washed your leather or if it looks excessively dry, you may use some neatsfoot oil before using the conditioner. Let the neatsfoots oil dry before applying the conditioner.
Choosing a handmade leather belt over synthetic ones mainly boils down to comfort. Leather, being both durable and flexible, molds to your movements, preventing that uncomfortable digging-in feeling you might get with stiffer belts. In addition to great leather, we custom size our belts to your exact waist size. That way you know you will get a perfect fit! no sloppy loose or too tight belts here 🙂
The last thing you want is a belt that’s so uncomfortable you can’t wait to take it off. That’s why it’s crucial to find one that feels like it’s barely there. Our handcrafted leather belts are custom sized and designed with your comfort in mind, using top-notch full-grain leather that only gets better with time. So not only will your belt feel great when you first put it on, but it’ll also become even more comfortable as you wear it in.
All our belts are custom sized for your exact waist size which guarantees the best fitting belts you have ever had. In order to get the fitting right, we have included the sizing guide on every belt page.
- Wear your favourite pair of jeans
- Measure your waist circumference using a measuring tape
- Your waist circumference is equal to the belt size which is calculated from the tip of the buckle to the middle hole in the belt
- If you are between sizes, just choose the size above your actual measure or give us your exact measure and we will make it to size
Leather is a natural and supple material. That comfort comes, in part, from the flexibility of the material. This does mean that leather belts, like all leather products, have the tendency to stretch a little bit over time.
We account for the stretching of your leather belt by offering additional belt loop holes so that you can tighten it as needed.
However, with the 4mm leather that we use, it will ot stretch too much. So it is best to always order your right size as shown in the guide above.
If your belt has stretched or if you wind up loosing weight, we have left 2 holes on each side of the middle hole (your waist size). However, there may come a time when you want to shorten your leather belt. Luckily, this is not only possible to do, but relatively easy with the right tools. Using a leather hole punch, you can cut a new hole for the leather prong to go through.
Although it is possible to wash a leather belt, we don’t recommend it to be done frequently. Honestly, I have never washed a leather belt. However, if you may, then do so with just lukewarm water or baby soap if it is really dirty. Once you have cleaned your belt, just let it dry at room temperature. Make sure you don’t dry the belt with a hair dryer or keep it next to a radiator. That is a sure way to dry out and crack leather. Once the belt is dried at room temperature, use some neatsfoot oil and put a light coat of high quality, silicone free leather conditioner. You are good to go!
Leather belts can last a long time if taken well care of. We have seen belts that are used daily and several decades old! The most important thing to keep the leather belt lasting a long time is to condition it with high quality leather conditioner periodically. We like to condition our everyday leather items once every 9-12 months.
We use full grain vegetable tanned (chromium free) leather from the world renowned Tärnsjö Garveri in Sweden. Producing vegetable tanned leather is a more lengthy and costly process compared to cheaper and environmentally harmfull chrome tanned leather. Not only is vegetable tanned leather beautiful, but it is also ethical.
All the leather from Tärnsjö Garveri are a byproduct of the meat industry. All of the animals have lived a free roaming life in farms around Tärnsjö.
So I get asked a lot about what makes a good belt. Here is my simple answer to what makes a good belt.
- Leather
- Hardware
- Craftmanship
In my opinion, sustainable leather, i.e. veg tanned and a by-product of the meat industry is a great starting point. Next is the quality of the leather. Full grain vegetable tanned leather is the best!
In addition to great leather, it is important to choose quality hardware.
In my opinion, Brass is an excellent choice for belt hardware. Firstly, because it is a very durable metal and doesn’t rust. And secondly, it picks up a beautiful patina to go with a nice patinated leather!
And finally, it comes down to craftsmanship. A good belt is perfect fitting and has nice beveled and burnished edges that adds comfort while wearing it.
Generally speaking a good leather belt can be anything from 7-10 oz. We use 10 oz (4mm) leather as we feel that gives the best mix of durability and comfort. They are thick enough to last a long time without being too bulky and uncomfortable.
